How do I make a list of students in a class?
See Create New Class List. You can enter student names one at a time, or you can import a class list from another program. How do I add a student to the list? You can import a list of student names, or you can add names one at a time. See Add names to a class list. How do I remove a student from the class list? See "Delete a student" in Edit a class list . How do I fix a student's name on the class list? See "Edit student's name" in Edit a class list . How do I print out a list of student names? See "Class List" in "Reports". Choose Class List from the Reports menu. When the report is showing, choose Print from the File menu to print the list. How can I put the class list of names in another application? Choose Class List from the Reports menu. When the report is showing, choose Select All and Copy from the Edit menu, and then paste the list in another application. How can I determine which students need instruction at a specific skill level? View Class Status (See Class Status), choose one problem type and one operation. Choose Skill Level from the Order menu and the list will be sorted by skill status. Look at any skill level column and the students whose status is red are the students who need instruction. How can I determine what skills the class has / needs to work on? View Class Status for all problem types, all operations. This shows you, for each student, in which operations skills have been completed, and which skills are in progress, as well as indicating skills for which there has been no activity. Click on one problem type name to get to more specifics about the status of every student in all the skill levels of all the operations in that problem type. How can I group students that need similar types of instruction or practice? To provide smaller, more individualized learning environments, you may want to identify instructional grouping for a class by identifying which students are working on similar skills, as well as which students need further assessment, practice, or instruction. Look at the Class Status View, all problem types, all operations, to see which students have achieved competence in any of the problem types, which students are currently progressing through the problem types, and which students have not started any activity. To select students for grouping for instruction in a particular skill, view the Class Status in one problem type, one operation. Choose Skill Level from the Order menu, and the student list will be sorted according to skill level. You can readily see which students are working on the same, or similar, skill levels in order to sort students into groups. The color coded graphic shows for every student, at which skill level students are competent, may be competent, need practice, may need instruction, and needs instruction. At one skill level beyond the highest skill level that students demonstrate competence: If students may be competent, provide a practice worksheet at that skill level When developing lesson plans for a class, if you need to prioritize what instructional areas need to be emphasized for a class, it helps to have an idea of the numbers of students that are working on the different skill levels. Look at the Class Profile View (See "Class Profile") to easily see how many students are working on particular skills and how many have completed particular skills. Using the Class Profile, you can select to provide instruction in particular areas, and will not waste time developing lessons in areas that most of the class has completed. You will be able to plan ahead to work on areas that are beyond the competence of most of the students, as you can easily see which skills no students have yet accomplished.
