Practice Arithmetic Test Taking Skills

Students may have trouble taking arithmetic tests for a variety of reasons. Some students can solve arithmetic problems, but not within time limits. If time is a problem, try making worksheets and have the student practice solving all the problems in a set amount of time. Some students have difficulty solving problems if too many are presented. If the length of tests is a problem, try to gradually make worksheets with more problems to require students to solve more problems in one sitting. Some students have difficulty switching back and forth between different skills. If combining skills is a problem, have students practice solving problems on worksheets that have a mix of problems from different arithmetic operations and skill levels.
