Keep Enough Cash in the Drawer Anybody learning to manage a cash drawer or cash register, must learn to keep enough coins and bills available to give change. Cashiers must recognize when they need more of a certain type of coin or bill in order to be able to continue handling customer. In Make Change, the cashier can get practice in this at the different levels. Choose the level when you set options to provide different types of practice. Beginning: The cash in the drawer is automatically updated. The cashier does not have to determine that more money is needed in the drawer. The drawer is fixed automatically, just as if a supervisor came to the drawer and took out certain types of bills and replaced with enough coins and bills to continue taking transactions. Choose the beginning level if the cashier is not ready to be responsible to keep appropriate cash in the drawer. Intermediate: The cashier clicks a button to fix the drawer. The cashier needs to know how to identify that there are not enough coins or bills of a certain type in the drawer. The cashier should click the Fix Drawer button to get more cash. Choose the Intermediate level to give the cashier practice recognizing when more types of coins or bills are needed in the cash drawer. Advanced: Cashiers drag money to the picture of money and choose the type of change needed for the drawer. Cashiers have to look at specific types of bills and coins and know when they are "getting low" and need more of a type of money. They must be able to determine which type of larger amount of cash they can use to get sufficient change to fix the drawer. Choose the advanced level for cashiers who need to practice actively getting change for their drawer. Return to the Table of Contents |
