Take Money from Customers

In any sale the customer's money must be taken and put away. Use Make Change to practice the following steps necessary to complete a transaction:

1. Take the customer's money and place it in a safe holding place.
In Make Change the customer's money appears in the area marked customer. Click on the money and drag it to the cashier's holding tray.

2. Give the customer change if necessary.
If the customer gave more money than the charge, count out the change. Keep the money on the holding tray until the customer has received the change. In real transactions with money this is necessary to be able to check the amount that the customer paid.

3. Put the customer's money in the correct place in the cash drawer.
When the customer has gotten change, and the sales transaction is complete, move the money from the holding tray to the correct places in the drawer.

Start at the beginning level practicing these steps. (Choose the Beginning Level in program options at the New Cashier Sign In window). At the beginning level the cashier cannot go to another transaction without completing each step. The cashier must take the customer's money. In the intermediate and advanced levels, the cashier can make the mistake of not taking the customer's money. The cashier's report, shown at the end of the "shift" tells if money was left on the holding tray, as a reminder to put the money away in future transactions.
