Once learners have started learning about arithmetic operations, it is time to start applying the operations to daily situations. You can help the learner use arithmetic in many contexts in daily living. You can pose questions and help the learner learn how to identify problems, decide which operation to use, and how to set up a computation. By talking about problem situations, the learner will learn to communicate using the language associated with math and problem solving, and learn how to explain how to solve problems.
