Tutor shows you how to solve problems at your current skill level. To get help, click the Tutor button under Activity at the main window. Use this step-by-step demonstration of the problem-solving process as often as you like for help learning how to solve problems. Follow these directions to use Tutor:

Watch the Demonstration of How to Solve the Problem

At the top of the Tutor window are the Operation and Skill Level and Skill Level definition of the problem on the screen. This problem is at your current skill level.

You can see the program solve the problem two different ways:

  • Click the Start Demonstration button, to see demonstration progress through the steps in the solution without stopping.
  • Click the Single Step button, to see the demonstration show one step at a time, stopping after each step. Click this button every time you want to see the next step.

The program explains what it is doing at each step. If you want to stop, click the Stop Demonstration button. The demonstration goes back to the beginning of solving the problem and you can choose Start Demonstration or Single Step.

Get Another Problem

Click Another Problem to get a new problem, at the same skill level, in the same operation.

Finish Tutor

Click Done to return to the main window.

How to Customize Tutor

    Talk: Click the Talk checkbox on the Tutor screen to turn talking on and off for each demonstration.

    Speed: To set the speed of the current demonstration, drag the slide control toward Fast or Slow.
