By setting the following options you can control the length of time and the difficulty of each practice session.
Type a number in Number of Problems to set the total number of problems. The default number of problems is 5. Select Allow Retries if you want to be able to try to solve a problem again after an incorrect answer in Practice. You can try to solve each problem as many times as set in Number of Retries. If you answer correctly, you progress to the next problem. If you answer incorrectly, you can retry. The default setting is to allow retries. If you do not want to be able to try to answer a problem more than once, deselect this option. If you select Allow Retries, type a number in Number of Retries. This limits the number of times you can try to answer the same problem. The default number of retries is one. This means that if the answer to a problem is incorrect, you can try one more time to answer the problem. You can set this number up to 99. At that setting you could answer the problem incorrectly 99 times, and keep getting the same problem. Select Credit Retries if you want your correct answer, after repeated trying, to count toward promotion through the skill levels. By default, Credit Retries is not selected. So, you have to get a problem correct on the first try in order for the score to count towards promotion. Select Limit Time if you want the practice session limited by time. If you select this option, a box on the Practice screen shows how much time you have left. The program stops the practice session after the time specified. When you run out of time, the Practice results appear on the screen. If you select Limit Time, you can type a number in Seconds Per Step. This specifies how much time Practice provides to complete each step in a solution. The number of steps in a problem, the seconds set per step, and the number of problems presented in the practice session determine the total time needed for a practice. Each practice session is limited to this amount of time. |
