Math Skill Builders provides Preferences as a way to individualize learning environments. To get Preferences, choose Options at the menu bar to Change Preferences, or pull down the File menu from the menu bar and choose Preferences. The options provided in Preferences let you control how Math Skill Builders works. You select some options with checkboxes. To select an option at a checkbox, click the box. A checkmark appears in the box. To deselect the option, click a box to remove the checkmark. You type numbers in the boxes to set the other options. Under Diagnosis in Preferences you have options to modify how long it takes to do a diagnosis by setting the total number of problems in each diagnosis, and the number of problems at each skill level. Under Practice in Preferences you set the number of problems, whether problems can be "retried", how many retries to allow, whether to credit retries toward promotion, and the time allowed. Under Assignment you can control the number of problems in each assignment. Type a number in Number of Problems to set the total number of problems. The maximum number is 15. Under Program Control you have several options to control how the program works. Use Criteria to set the rules for progressing through skill levels in Diagnosis and Practice. Click Reset Defaults if you want all the preferences to go back to the default settings. Click Cancel if you do not want to change the Preferences. Click OK when you finish. These preferences affect the current use of the program. Math Skill Builders saves these preferences. The next time you run the program it will reflect the most recent settings in Preferences. |
