Math Skill Builders provides a way to learn arithmetic with less emphasis on speed, and more emphasis on accurate problem solving. The program also provides options for setting time limits. Learners can:
Some students do not like to be rushed. Learners can learn by solving problems at their own pace. Learners can use as much time as they need to solve problems and to complete activities.
If students need to learn to work faster, or if they are having trouble in school because of timed exercises, they can practice working at a faster pace. Learners can:
You can limit the time allowed to solve problems in Practice. If you select Limit Time, there is a timer on the screen during Practice. Learners can try to solve problems before the time runs out. Practice automatically ends after a set amount of time. Set the number of seconds per step according to the student's success. If the student can complete the problems in the time set, gradually decrease the time for each step. If the student cannot complete the problems in the set amount of time, increase the time to an amount where the student has enough time to answer the problem. Then gradually decrease the time provided per step as the learner becomes more consistently successful.
Reduce the average amount of time needed to solve each problem. |
