Challenge Students with Arithmetic Problems Requiring New Skills

Occasionally challenge students by choosing an arithmetic operation or difficulty level that they have never tried. Make an arithmetic worksheet with the new operation or one skill level higher. Students should try to solve the problems and then check their answers with the answer keys or solutions. Did they get the right answer? Did they get all the steps correct? This provides an opportunity for the students to identify easy and hard problems and some of the skills they are working on acquiring.
