Standards that pertain to computation of whole numbers and decimals for the state of Washington:

Grade 4:
  • add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers

    Grade 7:
  • add, subtract, multiply, and divide non-negative fractions and decimals using rules for order of operation

Editor's Note: Yes, this is all Washington has to say about computation. Since Washington does not specify difficulty level at any grade level, we can only assume that students can add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers at any level of difficulty by grade 4. Likewise, we can only assume that students will be competent at any level of difficulty with deicmals by the end of grade 7.
